Strengthening Soybean Farming in Nigeria with Equipment Donation in Kwara State
A commitment to advancing agriculture in Nigeria and empowering local communities.
We recently made a significant stride in this direction by donating soybean threshing machines to farmers in Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State. This substantial initiative not only empowers local communities but also aligns with our vision to drive food security, improve farmer livelihoods, and support Nigeria’s agricultural growth.
Soybean is a cornerstone of Nigeria’s agricultural economy, valued for its critical role in food security, animal feed, and biofuel production. By investing in local soybean production, we aim to create a lasting impact on farmers’ productivity and profitability.
The newly donated threshing machines are designed to enhance efficiency and help farmers achieve higher yields, enabling them to meet growing demand while improving their quality of life.
This donation builds on our strong partnership with the Kwara State Government. Together, we are committed to improving food security and fostering sustainable farming practices that benefit smallholder farmers and the broader economy.
As a key investor in the Kwara State Soybean Sustainability Programme, Olam Agri focuses on empowering farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. This programme provides:
- Extensive training for farmers and extension agents.
- High-quality inputs and seeds to increase cultivation and yields.
- Equipment support, such as the threshing machines donated during this event.
- Market access through a robust value chain.
These efforts ensure that farmers not only grow more and earn more but also lay a solid foundation for sustainable agricultural growth in the region. This long-term perspective is what drives our soybean programme and our commitment to the future of agriculture in Nigeria.
Working with Olam Agri has been transformational. Together, we’ve trained extension agents and provided farmers the tools they need to succeed. Donating threshing machines further strengthens our efforts to improve the quality and quantity of soybean production in Kwara State. With the support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, this collaboration is driving significant progress in agriculture across the state.

This partnership has opened up new opportunities for our farmers. We are committed to supporting Olam Agri and the Kwara State Government in achieving food security and uplifting our community.
Alhaji Idris Abubakar,
the Sinaboko Serobetete III of Baruten LGA
We understand the challenges local farmers face, from low yields to limited market access. That’s why we’ve designed our soybean programme to directly address these issues, providing training, equipment, and market linkages. With our soybean crushing plant in Kwara State capable of processing 250,000–350,000 metric tons annually, we’re building a value chain that benefits farmers and the nation’s economy.
Amit Mathur,
Commercial Manager for the Soybean Value Chain at Olam Agri
Our investments in Kwara State reflect our commitment to empowering communities and creating sustainable food value chains. By equipping farmers with tools, knowledge, and opportunities, we align with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and drive socioeconomic growth. Together, we build a resilient agricultural sector and foster Nigeria’s self-sufficiency.
