Deepening our support in rubber producing regions in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – Olam Agri’s rubber business celebrated, during the 15th edition of its Gouassou programme, the excellence and loyalty of its partner rubber planters and cooperatives, both in the East and the West of Côte d’Ivoire.

Gouassou

A flagship initiative of the company’s sustainable rubber strategy, Gouassou — which means “bonus” in the local language — biannually rewards the most outstanding performances in terms of quality, consistency, and volumes of natural rubber delivered.

An edition marked by regional reinforcement

The programme strengthened Olam Agri’s territorial strategy by highlighting the key role of its two rubber processing plants located in the East and West of Côte d’Ivoire. This industrial extension allows for proximity to growers, fostering more effective field support.

A total of 198 individual planters and cooperatives were recognised for their commitment. The cumulative rewards reflect the scale of the initiative. This included 2,313 school kits, 2,714 school bags, 21 motorcycles, 23 laptops, 36 smartphones, and 13.9 million FCFA awarded as direct financial support.

In the East, in Abengourou, Amenan Ahoussi Pascal was celebrated for his commitment and dedication as an individual planter. The SCOOPS NSCCPA cooperative, already recognised during the previous edition, once again stood out for its consistent performance and reliability. In the West, in Guiglo, the SCOOPS SCPAO cooperative earned first place among the top 10 beneficiaries, confirming the growing strategic importance of this zone for the natural rubber sector.

For 15 editions, the Gouassou programme has embodied our ongoing commitment alongside producers. It’s regularity is no accident but a reflection of a clear vision: to sustainably support rubber planters, to value their efforts, and to build together a more equitable and resilient sector.

Since its launch in 2017, the programme’s impact is tangible: over 15,000 school kits distributed, 50,000 hectares equipped with tapping tools, 300,000 tonnes of rubber transported, and over 70 million FCFA in direct support paid to beneficiaries.

 Vijeth Shetty,

As long as there are men and women who sustain the rubber sector, we will highlight their contributions and provide them with our support through our Gouassou programme. It is by working together that we will actively contribute to a strong, resilient and sustainable value chain, from plantations to processing plants.
