Donating Vital Medical Equipment to Aniassué Maternity Hospital

Sustainability | Corporate

Aniassué, Côte d’Ivoire - Olam Agri’s rubber business in Côte d’Ivoire has reinforced its commitment to maternal and neonatal health through the donation of essential medical equipment to the maternity unit of the Aniassué Urban Health Centre, located in the Indénié-Djuablin region. This initiative was carried out under Olam Agri’s NASSEY programmes, which means “thank you” in the local Agni language.

The ceremony, attended by local and regional authorities, traditional leaders, health officials, and community representatives, underscores the company’s firm and long-standing commitment to supporting maternal and neonatal healthcare in rural areas where it operates.

A Practical Contribution to Maternal and Newborn Health

The maternity unit at Aniassué, which serves a population of over 15,000 residents and records more than 650 births each year, faces logistical and technical challenges — in particular, inconsistent electricity supply and outdated medical equipment.

To help improve conditions, Olam Agri has donated medical equipment including:

  • One generator of 33 KVA capacity, ensuring continuous power supply for critical care equipment.
  • Six neonatal bassinets, contributing to the safety and comfort of newborn babies.
  • One pediatric examination table, designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
  • One air-conditioning unit for the postnatal room, ensuring comfort for new mothers and their babies.

These contributions were identified in consultation with medical staff, ensuring they respond directly to the centre’s most urgent needs.
