Transforming Thailand’s Rice Value Chain in Partnership with GIZ
Over 7 billion bowls of rice are consumed around the world daily, yet traditional rice cultivation is one of the main contributors to GHG emissions in agriculture. With a purpose to transform agriculture for a more sustainable future, we have partnered with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to launch the Inclusive Sustainable Rice Landscapes (ISRL) project in Thailand. This programme is supported by the Thai government, Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Environment Programme and aims to help 45,000 farmers lower GHG emissions by implementing climate-smart farming practices and technologies while meeting quality standards set by the Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP).
