Olam Agri, Unilever, SOTRA, and ATALIAN Join Forces in 'Clean Sweep' Operations for Sustainability

Sustainability

Côte d'Ivoire

Olam Agri in Côte d'Ivoire and precisely its Aniassué, Ouangolo, and Abidjan locations took part in World Clean-up Day to promote reducing waste in our environment. Under the banner of the "Clean Sweep" Operation, this initiative aimed to foster environmental responsibility while strengthening the bond between Olam Agri and the local communities.

Clean Sweep

World Clean-up Day, celebrated annually on the third Saturday of September, is a global movement that unites millions of people worldwide in a collective effort to clean up our planet. It's a day when communities, organisations, and individuals come together to tackle litter, waste, and pollution in their local environments.

Our employees proactively ventured into identified areas in the three localities that suffered environmental degradation. The efforts collected substantial waste from everyday human activities, underscoring the organisation's dedication to creating a cleaner environment.

Over 300 volunteers joined forces to pursue a common goal of contributing to a cleaner planet.

Partheeban Theodore - Senior VP and Regional Head

At Olam Agri, we are resolute in our determination to actively engage in not only our daily business operations but also in preserving our precious planet. The 'Clean Sweep' Operation represents another significant stride in our journey towards a sustainable future.

Partheeban Theodore -

Senior VP and Regional Head emphasised our enduring commitment to sustainability

Clean Sweep

In addition to Olam Agri's efforts in the "Clean Sweep" Operation, other prominent organisations, including Unilever, Société des Transports Abidjanais (SOTRA), and ATALIAN, also actively participated in this sustainability initiative. Their engagement showcases a collective commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement, further solidifying the impact of such collaborative actions in creating cleaner, more sustainable local environments. These organisations are inspiring examples of corporate social responsibility, demonstrating that by working together, we can achieve positive change for our planet and the communities we serve.

This day marks the first step in a promising collaboration between companies located on the Boulevard de Vridi. Seeing the teams of the various neighboring companies, come together to participate in this "sweep" operation was an enriching experience both for the environment and for each of us on a human level. On behalf of Unilever, I would like to express my gratitude to Olam Agri for this wonderful initiative that we have had the privilege of living together. Beyond the cleansing of our environment, this day was an opportunity to share fraternal moments, all for the common well-being. Once again, we proved that, together, we can accomplish beautiful things, as evidenced by the state of the Boulevard after our passage.

Speaking in admiration of the initiative, Arona Diop –

Chief Executive Office – Unilever Cote d’Ivoire said

World Clean-up Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship. It highlights the impact of small, local actions towards the global fight against climate change and ecological degradation. It's a day of empowerment as people of all backgrounds join hands to make a tangible difference in the health and cleanliness of our shared home, Earth.
