Republic of Congo
The Republic of Congo has been the hub of our wood products operations for over 50 years.
We operate forest management concessions and processing in the Sangha province. Our forest concessions cover 2.1 million hectares and are spread over five concessions of Pokola, Loundoungou-Toukoulouka, Kabo, Pikounda and Mimbeli Ibenga, providing the world’s largest contiguous FSC® certified wood. Each hectare is obtained under long-term lease agreements and managed in accordance with the Sustainable Forest Management standards.
We’ve FSC® certification for about 1.8 million hectares and 92,530 hectares are preserved as standing forest under REDD+.
Logs are selectively harvested annually after the approved rotation period of over 25 years. Harvested logs that are not directly exported are processed locally in our own mills, drying kilns, and moulding and scantling factory.
Creating High-Quality Wood Products
We offer a comprehensive range of products encompassing logs, sawn timber, kiln-dried lumber, scantlings, and decking. Our molding unit and furniture workshop produces finished, high-quality furniture for domestic and international markets.
We harvest from four concessions in which we produce products that are 100% certified by the FSC®. We guarantee traceability and supply responsibly, legally and in full compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation.
Our harvesting capabilities and processing expertise allow us to treat various species and produce specific dimensions of logs and sawn timber to meet customers’ needs. We support the development and implementation of best harvesting practices, working closely with international industry and trade institutions such as the Association Technique Internationale des Bois Tropicaux (ATIBT).
We have the largest processing capacity for tropical timber in Africa, managing 400,000 m3 of input logs through our advanced five state-of-the art sawmills. Our high-capacity industrial kiln dryers for certified tropical timber are the largest in Africa. These are powered by wood-waste fired cogeneration power plants that use steam, placing them amongst some of the most ecologically friendly operations in Africa.
