Joining Forces With Save the Children to Support Youth & Family Empowerment in Côte d’Ivoire
Olam Agri has announced a new partnership with Save the Children, to promote youth employment and reduce the economic vulnerability of families in the Mé and Indénié-Djuablin regions in Côte d'Ivoire.
Abidjan - The two-year project will have a dual impact. Firstly, the project will focus on empowering young girls and boys no longer in the school system in the Mé region, offering them opportunities to access to continue their education as well as apprenticeship opportunities.. Sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Save the Children Korea and Olam Agri’s rubber business in Côte d'Ivoire this new initiative will target 20 communities in the departments of Adzopé and Akoupé, reaching 1,200 young people.
Secondly, Olam Agri’s financial contribution will support community resilience by strengthening new and existing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) by providing technical support and training to increase capacity and develop income generating activities. This will benefit three communities in the Indénié-Djuablin region, impacting over 1,500 members.
