Honouring Academic Achievements in Côte d’Ivoire

Through our NASSEY sustainability programme, we held two Journée d'Excellence events to honour academic achievement in public secondary schools in Aniassué and Zoukougbeu.

The ceremonies took place on the 24th of January in Aniassué, coinciding with International Education Day, and on the 4th of February in Zoukougbeu. These occasions highlight our ongoing commitment to education as a driving force for sustainable and inclusive development in Côte d’Ivoire.

In total, 40 students who successfully passed the BEPC and Baccalaureate exams were recognised for their outstanding academic performance. We dedicated more than CFA 40 million to support these events. In each community, twenty students received study grants and IT equipment to enhance their learning environment and provide greater access to digital resources. Additionally, the ten highest-performing Baccalaureate graduates at each school were each awarded a study grant of CFA 1.5 million. All 40 honoured students also received laptops to support their academic and university journeys.

We designed these awards in collaboration with educational stakeholders to make sure they truly meet students’ needs and help ensure their long-term success. Local administrative, traditional, and educational leaders praised this exemplary partnership between the public and private sectors, and encouraged students to continue demonstrating the dedication, discipline, and perseverance shown by the awardees.

Education remains the most powerful lever of transformation available to us. In every community I visit, I see the potential of young people who need only the right opportunity to excel. By investing in these students, we are investing in Côte d’Ivoire’s future leaders. Their success today strengthens our collective tomorrow, and Olam Agri is proud to stand beside them as they build that future.

Education is the ladder that allowed me to rise from humble beginnings to greater heights, and it is this same ladder that I hope every student will climb. My father started as a gardener and, through education, became a Finance Director. This journey shaped my conviction that no dream is too big when one refuses to give up on learning. Today, it is this education that has given me the position I hold and the opportunity to launch this scholarship programme. This initiative goes beyond financial support, it aims to create opportunities, inspire ambition, and build a future where education remains the key to success.
