Celebrating Purpose & Progress on International Bee Day
At Olam Agri, we are proud to mark International Bee Day by highlighting a meaningful initiative that is fostering positive change in local communities across northern Congo.
Between 2023 and 2025, we donated more than 400 beehives to villages within our Loundoungou-Toukoulaka, Mimbeli-Ibenga, and Pokola concessions. These hives, crafted from wood sourced from our sawmills, demonstrate our commitment to transforming local resources into sustainable opportunities.

This initiative goes beyond beekeeping—it is about empowering communities. While many of these villages have long-standing traditions in apiculture, we are enhancing their practices through a strategic partnership with the Association for the Development of the Baaka People of Congo (ADPBC).

Through expert-led training sessions, we are equipping local beekeepers with modern techniques to strengthen their skills and knowledge. Our goal is to establish beekeeping as a sustainable source of income, food security, and economic resilience for these communities.
The impact is already evident and this year’s honey harvest is projected to yield 300 to 500 kg of honey—a testament to what can be achieved when tradition and innovation come together.
We extend our gratitude to the bees, the beekeepers, and the communities who have embraced this initiative, helping to build a more sustainable future for both forests and people.
Happy International Bee Day!
