Peru
We’ve built trusted relationships with our growing communities, ensuring both parties benefit.
We have established direct relationships with farmers in quinoa and chia-growing regions in Peru, working closely with our growing communities to make a positive impact, with over 2,000 quinoa and chia farmers AtSource+ certified, with our organic supply chain totalling over 2,000 farmers.
Over and above agriculture, we focus on improving the health and nutrition of communities by delivering education programmes and providing non-agriculture inputs.
We’re honoured that our business has been selected as a flagship project by the Food Action Alliance for our work with local nutritionists, female farmers, and farming communities. With support from USAID, we’re training smallholder quinoa farmers to build their sustainable organic capacity enabling them to achieve organic and AtSource+ certification and increase their yield by 10% on average.
Processing & Packaging
We’ve installed a crop dryer and automated retail packaging with an annual capacity 5,000 mt at our facilities in Peru, where we supply customers with both bulk and retail packs. The packaging machine enhances our commitment to food safety as it requires no manual intervention, which is enabling us to supply private label retail products to retailers, brands and packaging companies across North America, Latin America and Europe.
Sustainable Communities
Our sustainability programmes positively impact our farmers. We focus on optimising farm economics and creating positive environmental and social impacts in communities and landscapes in some of the least developed areas of the country.
We collaborate with farmers to develop solutions, which improve yields, quality and market access, and provide training on forest preservation, reforestation and climate smart agri-practices.
